Presentation of 2003 Hillary Medal
[ All Medalists ] [ 2003 Medalists ] [ 2006 Medalist ] [ 2008 Medalist ]The first Sir Edmund Hillary Mountain Legacy Medal was presented to Helen Cawley and Michael Schmitz on the occasion of the Mount Everest Golden Jubilee celebration at Tengboche Monastery (Khumbu, Nepal) on May 29, 2003. Both were congratulated by the host of the event, His Holiness Ngawang Tenzin Zangbu, and by the guest of honor, Peter Hillary.

His Holiness Ngawang Tenzin Zangbu, Head Lama of Tengboche Monastery, presided over the Everest Jubilee Celebration at Tengboche.
Peter Hillary, son of Sir Edmund and guest of honor at Tengboche, presented the Hillary Medal.
